SMELL NICE EVEN IF YOU ARE HUNGRY – A Troubling Message by the Lagos Lawmaker – Desmond Elloit
By: Bíńtín L’ayé Àgbàntara
It’s truly disappointing to see a member of the Lagos House of Representatives engaging in such superficial actions.
Nigerians deserve leaders who focus on addressing substantive issues and improving the lives of their constituents rather than resorting to token gestures.
The actions of Desmond Elliot, distributing perfume and exercise books, fall far short of the meaningful representation Nigerians deserve. It’s a stark reminder of the pressing need for leaders who prioritize genuine service and substantive contributions to their communities.
In essence, the lawmaker’s actions convey a troubling message: “Smell nice even if you are hungry.” This sentiment encapsulates the disconnect between politicians and the everyday struggles faced by Nigerians, highlighting the need for leadership that prioritizes substantive solutions over superficial gestures.
The Lawmaker conduct serves as a wakeup call, urging us to uphold standards of integrity and accountability in leadership. Let us use this moment as a catalyst for ensuring that Nigeria never faces similar challenges, and that our leaders prioritize the well-being and interests of the people above all else.
Let’s strive to ensure that Nigeria’s challenges and shortcomings never befall us.
