Remi Tinubu mocks Nigerians driving cabs and doing other menial jobs abroad, says staying home is better

Remi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has berated Nigerians who relocate abroad to take on jobs they refuse to do at home.

The First Lady stated this during an interview with Arise News on Thursday March 21.

She stressed the importance of Nigerians supporting each other and assisting those in need rather than spending extravagantly on leisure activities.

She added that even though she believes in social development, she believes that help should be rendered to those who truly need it as the government can’t feed the whole nation.

The First Lady expressed the belief that those who are blessed with resources have a responsibility to support the less privileged.

Remi Tinubu also addressed the perception of poverty in Nigeria, noting that individuals without material possessions such as cars and houses are often labeled as poor, despite their circumstances.

Furthermore, she pointed out the irony of highly educated Nigerians ending up in menial jobs abroad, such as cab driving, which they would not consider in their homeland, despite their qualifications and certifications.

“Nigerians we can help each other.

“It’s not that the government will begin to give food to everybody. It is for people God has blessed to help the poor,” she said.

She added, “Even those people saying they are going to Japa, they go there. What work are they going to do?

“Work that you refused to do at home where you have loved ones, you end up going to do that. Even with all their education, they are driving cabs but won’t drive cabs here.”
