Victor Osimhen returned to action in some style for Galatasaray
Nigeria and Super Eagles super star Victor Osimhen made a sensational return to action for Galatasaray, scoring a stunning bicycle kick goal in their 3-0 victory over Antalyaspor.
The Super Eagles striker, who had been sidelined due to injury after a two-goal performance in a 3-3 draw against Kasimpasa, replaced Mauro Icardi in the match and quickly made his mark on Saturday.
Osimhen’s injury had ruled him out of international duty, leading to his omission from coach Austin Eguavoen’s squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Libya.
However, he returned ahead of schedule, starting the match on the bench before coming on for Icardi, who had already netted twice to give Galatasaray a comfortable lead.
Just three minutes after entering the game, Osimhen thought he had scored with a brilliant finish, but his goal was disallowed for offside after a VAR review.
Undeterred, he continued to push forward and finally found the back of the net in added time with an extraordinary bicycle kick that left the goalkeeper helpless.
Initially met with a lengthy VAR check, the goal was eventually confirmed, allowing Osimhen to celebrate with his teammates.
Commentators hailed Osimhen’s goal as a contender for goal of the season, showcasing his skill and determination to contribute to his team’s success.
With this impressive performance, Osimhen not only marked his return but also reinforced his status as one of Galatasaray’s key players as they continue their pursuit of success in the league.
