A tragic incident unfolded at Pinnock Estate in Lagos State on Monday night when two dogs escaped from their enclosure and fatally attacked a security guard. Reports indicate that the dogs’ owner failed to secure the cage properly, allowing the dogs to escape and subsequently maul the yet-to-be-identified security man.

In a disturbing video from the scene, the deceased security guard’s body was shown on the ground while the dogs were seen feasting on it.

Lagos State Police Command spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed that the dogs’ owner has been arrested. In response to inquiries from the public about the consequences for the owner, Hundeyin stated, “The dog owner has been arrested and is in our custody.”

Under Nigerian law, individuals who recklessly or negligently endanger human life or fail to take necessary precautions against potential harm from animals in their care can be charged with a misdemeanor, punishable by up to two years in prison.
