Anger Mounts as Immigration, NSCDC, Correctional Service, Police Officers Slam FG Over Delayed August Salaries

Tension is rising among Nigeria’s paramilitary agencies as officers of the Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Correctional Service, and the Police have slammed the Federal Government over the persistent delays in salary payments.

According to some officers who spoke under anonymity, salary delays have now become a recurring challenge, occurring almost every month. They lamented that the uncertainty over when payments will be made is causing frustration and low morale within the services.

“This is unacceptable. We put our lives on the line daily, yet the government keeps delaying our salaries. How do they expect us to survive without pay?” one officer lamented.

The Federal Government is yet to issue an official response on when the outstanding salaries will be paid.

Despite the crucial role these agencies play in safeguarding national security, personnel say they are yet to receive their August salaries, a situation that has left many struggling to meet basic needs.

Analysts warn that the persistent delay in paying security personnel could further dampen motivation and weaken the fight against insecurity across the country.
