Outcry ensues following the circulation of a viral video showing a student being bullied at an upscale school in Abuja
A Twitter user, @mooyeeeeeee, is seeking justice for a female student at Lead British International School, Abuja, alleging that she was bullied by her classmates. In an urgent post on Monday night, accompanied by two videos, she pleaded for the message to go viral to ensure justice for the victim.
“There’s a video I’m about to post. I need you guys to help me get justice for her. She was bullied in her school by her classmates at Lead British School, Abuja. Pls make it go viral so she can get justice,” the post read.
One of the videos shows the victim being repeatedly slapped by another female student while questioning “Who broke my heart?” In another video, the victim is seen seated beside a male classmate who claims, “I spoilt her relationship.”
The post has garnered over 1,000 comments condemning the incident and urging school authorities to investigate.
@knownso1 commented, “This is so sad to watch, don’t care what happened but she doesn’t deserve such treatment from these rascals. Imagine the nonsensical boy beside her even laughing. They should discipline that boy. But she could at least fight back and not allow them to treat her like a coward!!”
@Lefter_11 suggested the victim’s parents involve the police. “Her parents should involve the police and also report those children to school authorities. Some of us who went to public schools wouldn’t hesitate to inform our parents if someone bullied or beat us; we would gather some friends and handle it.”
Meanwhile, @sadiqGsadiq shared a screenshot alleging a history of bullying at the school. The screenshot claimed that another student had cut a classmate with a knife but received only a two-day suspension.
“Bullying is a major issue at Lead British International School. The school often tries to cover up incidents like this. When we tell our parents, they think we’re being dramatic, which is why we need your help to raise awareness and stop this behavior.”
The school has not officially responded to the incident, and Ngozi Nwaokoma, Head of Corporate Affairs and Business Development (Abuja branch), has not replied to messages.
Lead British International School is known as one of Nigeria’s most expensive schools, with an annual fee of N1.5 million according to Legit News. Established in September 2007, it has two annexes in Abuja and branches in Ibadan, Oyo State, and Osogbo, Osun State.
