Canada Election 2025 : Mark Carney led the Liberals to victory
Canada’s former top banker, Mark Carney replaced an increasingly unpopular Justin Trudeau as prime minister in March. Highlighting his experience steering major economies through economic crises, Carney succeeded in convincing Canadians that he was the best person to tackle affordability issues and take on Trump’s tariffs and annexation threats.
Carney’s victory cements the Liberal Party’s decade in power, which began with Trudeau winning a surprise majority over the Stephen Harper’s Conservatives in October 2015.
