US embassy in Jerusalem to be closed on Wednesday due to security situation

The US embassy in Jerusalem will be closed on Wednesday due to the security situation and in compliance with orders from the Israeli government, the State Department said in a post on X on Tuesday.
“Given the security situation and in compliance with Israel Home Front Command guidance, the U.S.

Embassy in Jerusalem will be closed tomorrow (Wednesday, June 18) through Friday (June 20). This includes the Consular Sections in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv,” the State Department said on X.

“We have no announcement about assisting private US citizens to depart at this time,” the post read. “The Department of State is always planning for contingencies to assist with private US citizens’ departure from crisis areas.”

Earlier, State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said a task force would be established to assist Americans seeking to leave Israel and other Middle East countries amid the conflict.

She added that there are currently no evacuations planned.

The US embassy in Jordan, meanwhile, directed all government employees and family members to shelter in place until further notice.
